How to Install Shapedoku on Your Phone or as a Web App

To install Shapedoku you have two easy paths, get it from Google Play, or add the Progressive Web App at app.shapedoku.com straight to your home screen, and both give you the same colorful shape Sudoku that works offline.

Two ways to install Shapedoku

You can install Shapedoku as a native Android app from Google Play, or you can install the web version as a Progressive Web App, or PWA, from app.shapedoku.com. Both routes lead to the same game, with the same shapes, difficulties, Daily Challenge, hints, and pencil Notes. The web app is the fastest way to start on any device with a modern browser, while Google Play is the familiar choice for Android phones and tablets. Pick whichever suits you, and you can even use both.

Install from Google Play

On an Android device, open the Google Play Store, search for Shapedoku, and tap install. Once it finishes, the app appears in your launcher like any other game, and you can start playing immediately as a guest with no account required. This route gives you a normal app icon and standard Android update handling through the Play Store.

Add the web app to your home screen

To install Shapedoku as a PWA, visit app.shapedoku.com in your phone browser and use the add to home screen option. The exact wording depends on your browser, but the idea is the same across devices.

  • On Android Chrome, open the browser menu and choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
  • On iPhone or iPad Safari, tap the share icon, then choose Add to Home Screen.
  • On a desktop browser, look for an install icon in the address bar to run Shapedoku in its own window.

After you add it, Shapedoku opens in a clean full-screen window with its own icon, so it looks and feels like an installed app even though it arrived through the web. This is ideal if you want to play on a device without visiting an app store, or if you want the same game on a laptop.

Why the web app is handy

The installed web app works offline once loaded, autosaves your current puzzle locally, and lets you continue exactly where you left off, so a dropped connection never ends your game. On desktop and laptop you also get keyboard shortcuts, where 1 to 9 place shapes, N toggles Notes, H asks for a hint, Backspace or Delete clears a cell, R restarts, and Escape deselects. That makes the browser version genuinely fast to play, not just a fallback.

Guest first, sign in later if you want

However you install Shapedoku, you can start playing right away as a guest, with no sign-up and no email. Later, if you want your XP, levels, stats, and progress to sync across your phone, tablet, and desktop, you can optionally sign in with Google or email, which is free. Nothing forces you to create an account, so you are free to install Shapedoku, solve a few puzzles, and decide about syncing whenever it suits you.
