Rune Flow: A Beginner's Walkthrough

The goal in one sentence

In Rune Flow you connect each pair of matching crystals with a glowing path, and you must fill every cell on the board to finish. That is the whole game. Two rules shape everything: paths are not allowed to cross, and no square may be left empty.

How to draw a path

Find two crystals of the same color, then drag from one to the other across the grid. The path follows your finger through the cells. If you make a mistake, you can pull the path back or reset it and try again. There is no penalty for experimenting, so feel free to try a route, see where it leads, and change it.

Start where there are fewest choices

The easiest place to begin is a corner or an edge. A crystal in a corner can only be reached from two directions, which means its path almost draws itself for the first step or two. Lay down those forced routes first, and the open middle of the board becomes much clearer.

Remember you must fill the whole board

This is the rule new players forget. Connecting the pairs is only half the job. If your paths leave an empty square that nothing can reach, the level is not solved. Because of this, the shortest, straightest path between two crystals is often wrong. The correct route frequently winds the long way around to make sure every cell gets covered.

A simple first strategy

1. Connect any pair that clearly has only one sensible route, usually near an edge.
2. Look at the empty cells and ask which path could possibly cover each one.
3. Send paths on detours where needed so no square is stranded.
4. If two paths want the same cell, back one up and reroute. Never force a crossing.
5. Before you finish, scan for any empty square. A full board is the real finish line.
