What is chess sudoku?
Chess sudoku is a family of variants that layer chess piece constraints on top of the normal 1 to 9 grid. The classic rules still apply, so rows, columns, and boxes ban repeats as usual, but extra rules say that identical digits cannot sit a certain move apart. The two most common are the anti knight and the anti king, and once you internalize how a knight or a king moves, the new constraints become second nature. Anti knight and anti king rules

- A few add non consecutive rules, where two touching cells cannot differ by exactly one.
How scanning changes
In ordinary Sudoku you sweep three directions after each placement: the row, the column, and the box. Chess sudoku adds diagonal and leaping checks, so after placing a digit you must also glance at every knight jump or every touching neighbor. Here is the trademark thrill in a worked example. Place a 4 in the center of the board under anti knight rules, and instantly eight scattered cells, each a knight move away, lose 4 as a candidate. If one of those cells was already down to only 4 and 7, it now must be 7.
